Maple Table - After years of rough use and storage in a garage, the customer wanted to hand this family piece down to her children. The solid table was hand stripped. The frame and top were reglued. Prudent sanding and bleaching removed the stains. To highlight the maple's grain and even the color, the wood was stained. The table was finished with shellac and lacquer.
Cherry End Table - After being exposed to the sun, the color was bleached from this cherry end table. The table was hand stripped. Requiring only minor repair, the table was finished natural, with a light toning to reduce the contrast of the sapwood. The table was finished with a shellac and lacquer.
Oak Rocker - Tulip back rocker came into the shop with several coats of paint. After stripping, repairing, and replacing missing parts, the chair was given a light stain and glaze to highlight the oak grain. It was then finished with lacquer.
Footstool - Claw and ball footstool was taken down to the frame. After replacing the spent wood, the frame was reglued. The walnut legs were sanded, stained and finished. The top was reupholstered with fabric from our shop. The existing coil springs were tied eight ways and new padding was used for the top cushion.
Custom Coffee Table Using wood from the family barn, this coffee table was designed and fabricated by Excel Shop. The customer wanted a coffee table that would withstand their family, hold magazines, and remind them of their family's past. Fresh wood exposed during construction was given a faux finish to match the weathered look the customer desired.
Custom Sofa - In the process of home renovation, a customer saw a sofa they liked at a private club. Working from photographs, Excel Shop designed this sofa with altered dimensions to accomodate the customer's home and existing furniture. The frame was fabricated by our furniture shop, including the star and circle detailing in the mahogany legs. The exposed legs were finished by our finishing shop. Our upholstery craftsman upholstered the sofa using the customer's fabric.
