Along with refinishing, we offer a restoration service on furniture where the old finish is still protecting the item. Building on to the existing finish, we repair, clean, stain and topcoat the item, preserving the patina.

Stripping - Stripping is not fun. There are better ways to spend your free time. Let us safely hand strip your wood or metal furniture with our flow-over system. This environmentally friendly system re-circulates the chemical stripper over your furniture. We strip both clear coats and painted pieces, furniture and architectural objects. We also successfully strip difficult veneered items.
Less fragile items, such as metals or architectural pieces, may not require hand stripping. We have the capability to dip items in the same stripping chemicals we use to hand strip. Less handwork can mean more efficiency and lower cost to you.

Upholstery - When your favorite sofa or upholstered chair is worn out, our craftsmen can make it new again. Generally, older frames and construction are better made than modern furniture and if you like the style of your current furniture, upholstery may be the smart choice. Our upholstery craftsmen take pride in giving you the best product available, using both traditional and modern upholstery methods. We work with your fabric and have a wide selection in our shop.
A benefit of using Excel Shop is we have craftsmen in both upholstery and furniture construction. Our furniture makers, who specialize in working with wood, do most of the repairs, ensuring that an expert works on your piece. This allows our upholsterers to concentrate on properly applying the fabric.
Minor upholstery repairs such as hand sewn seams, foam replacement, minor leather repair, and zipper replacement are also completed.

Distinctive Fabrics - We offer a large, unique selection of competitively priced upholstery fabrics. The fabric brands we carry include Duralee, Kravet, Stroheim & Roman, B. Berger, Peachtree, Derby, and Robert Allen.

Caning - We do many cane replacements including hand caning, sheet caning, rush bottom, wide reed and herringbone weave. If only one piece in a set of caned furniture needs to be replaced, our finishers can stain the new cane to match the other pieces.

Painting - Due to chipping, cracking, or peeling paint, that beautiful painted piece is now an eyesore . We provide paint, glaze, and faux finish wood and metal.
